The Original Trailer for "The Exorcist" is Way Freaky!

Hello ghouls and ghoulettes!

I was randomly surfing online when I stumbled upon the original theatrical trailer for the movie The Exorcist. According to online info, this trailer was banned by several theaters for being too scary.

Susan Roces' Ritemed Commercial is Unintentionally Funny

I don't know if I'm the only one but I can't help but laugh whenever I see the Ritemed commercial featuring veteran actress Susan Roces on TV.

Video credit: CelebConnect

What makes it funny for me are the two scenes where Ms. Roces closes her eyes while raising her hand in a sort of a pledge. It reminds me of a pray over for someone's soul. If the advertisement was for a naturopathic treatment or maybe faith healing, the gesture would have looked okay but it looks awkward in an ad for medicines.

But the real reason why I laugh whenever I see the ad is because Ms. Roces' gesture reminds me of Maneki Neko. Yeah, that lucky cat statuette we commonly see near the entrance of business establishments.

Aksyon Gordon Campaign Ad: What the Hell?!

I rarely watch TV but I live with someone who does (and at a high volume) and I would occasionally overhear this campaign ad featuring a kid reciting an annoying poem. At first I thought the commercial was for a certain politician whom I dislike, thinking that that politician was low enough to embarrass a kid just to get votes. So imagine my surprise when I found out that the campaign ad was for Richard "Dick" Gordon -- a politician whom I actually support and respect.

Very disappointing!

To the people involved in creating and approving this commercial, WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?

When election time comes knocking, politicians are known to do cheesy and even eyeroll-inducing stunts -- having campy jingles, kissing babies, singing, visiting slums, getting real-life Juan dela Cruz "mascots" to vouch for them. Still, the Aksyon Gordon ad is beyond lame.

Ramon Bautista Stars in Nivea for Men's #LikeaPogi Campaign

I'm really liking Nivea for Men's #LikeaPogi campaign. It stars Hapontukin funny guy Ramon Bautista.

Ramon Bautista for Nivea for Men's #LikeaPogi campaign

I think Nivea made a really good move in choosing him as their new endorser instead of the usual conventionally handsome actors. Aside from not having sky-high TF requirements (I'm just assuming this), Ramon Bautista is a sort of a cult hero. His wit and talent as a comedian, filmmaker, producer and UP film professor give him an air of credibility and give his endorsement more weight compared to some boneheaded pretty face. He looks really Pinoy, not the tisoy or chinito type you see in a lot of ads, and he's not overly handsome and is therefore easier to relate to. At the same time, with Ramon Bautista as the endorser, Nivea is not bastardizing the meaning of the word "pogi". If Nivea chose a smelly-looking ugly guy, the result would have been patronizing. But Ramon Bautista is neat, cute in his own way, and in good shape. The implication is that for you to be truly "pogi", you also have to take care of your body and your health and not just rely on the good old "inner beauty".
