The Works Bistro @ Tomas Morato

We dropped by The Works Bistro in Tomas Morato for a quick dinner.

Taste

We ordered a rice dish and a pasta dish, but since the rice dish was not available that time, we changed our order to The Works Pizza 10" (P325) and Zesty Mojos (P185).

They serve milkshakes. Who can say no to milkshakes? So we also ordered a Chocohazelnut Milkshake (P110) and a Strawberry Milkshake (P110).

The milkshakes arrived first. Chocolate and strawberry syrups were drizzled along the sides of the respective glasses to form a simple design. Both milkshakes were good.

I love everything potato so I excitedly bit into the mojos. Alas, I got disappointed. I hated the seasoning they used. It was half-bland, half-fishy for some reason. To be fair, I asked bf what he thought of the mojos and while he didn't like them as well, they didn't taste fishy to him.

As for the pizza, I didn't pay attention to the pictures when I ordered. I just wanted a pizza with all the works. So I was mildly disappointed when I learned that what we ordered was a thin-crust pizza. I tend to avoid thin-crust pizzas because several ones have disappointed me in the past and because I find thick-crust pizzas more filling. However, the The Works Pizza smelled heavenly, so I got a slice and took a bite.

Well what do you know? It was wonderful! The pizza looked simple but was flavorful and crunchy even when it became a bit cold. The pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, ham, mushroom, bell pepper, and olives certainly went well together. The crust was good, which made the pizza yummy til the end -- unlike other thin-crust pizzas which tend to become hard and boring once the pizza has sat on the table long enough to become cold. So while we won't be ordering the Zety Mojos again, we will definitely come back for the The Works Pizza!

By the way, according to The Works Bistro's Facebook page, they make their food from scratch and don't use MSG. I'm the kind of person who does not let calories, fats, salt, and MSG get in the way of my happiness, but the food being MSG-free is a nice bonus.

Affordability

The food is moderately priced. You can find The Works Bistro's prices on their online menu.

Interiors

The Works Bistro is small but visually appealing. Modern chic. Lights are adequate. Decors are tasteful and not overwhelming. I especially like the modern-looking cushioned chairs near the entrance.

those orange sofa chairs are just adorable!

To prevent diners from getting bored while waiting for their food, magazines are available and a movie is shown on the TV hanging on one wall.

The Works Bistro

During our visit, The Works Bistro was playing Wanted. I found that curious, since Wanted is a bloody film. The other diners didn't seem to mind though and looked quite enthralled watching the movie as they ate.

Cleanliness

The place looks clean. My only complaint is with the menu. Whoever designed the menu put a lot of thought and effort into it. However, the menu was not well-maintained and the one we got suffered from obvious water damage and was haphazardly "edited".

A bit sad for such a hip-looking resto.

Service

Service was good. The staff was polite and the food arrived after a reasonable waiting period.

  9. I have been craving for milkshake for days and seeing this makes it worse. -___-

I am a Tomas Morato and Timog Ave girl but I've never been to this place. Sadddd. -__- You should try El Buono, though. It's a good pizza parlor with live band. :)

    1. I don't recall seeing any high-chairs but it's best to ask them directly to be sure. :)
