We tried Saint's Alp Teahouse last month. It is a Taiwanese-style teahouse located in Katipunan, just across Ateneo. There were a lot of people that Saturday night. Most of them looked like students and yuppies, which was not surprising due to Saint's Alp's proximity to Ateneo and Miriam.
Taste
It was our first time to try Saint's Alp. I was happy to see that this teahouse served not just beverages but also heavier items like rice meals and noodle soups. In the past, I had found myself in coffee shops, hungry and unsatisfied that my only options for solid food were cakes and pastries. Not a problem in Saint's Alp. Good.
We ordered Chicken Skin, Chicken Tom Yum, and Chicken Chop. (Yeah, we're batting for the poultry team.) For beverage, bf chose Ice-blended Wildberry Sorbie. Saint's Alp has a wide variety of teas to choose from, most of them available hot or cold (classic teas with green tea, black tea or oolong tea base; teas with milk, salted cream, nata de coco or MatchaAgar) and I was planning to try one of those teas until I saw that Saint's Alp also serve milkshakes. I like teas but I like milkshakes even more, so yeah, I ordered Strawberry Milkshake.
Chicken Skin |
The Chicken Skin is okay. We've had crunchier ones before, but Saint's Alp's version is good enough.
The Chicken Chop is good and filling. It is not greasy and the chicken is tender. I can use a little more sauce though. When it comes to rice bowls, I have a tendency to run out of viand before finishing the rice. If that happens to you as well, you may want to consider ordering the additional minced pork (for P60).

Chicken Tom Yum |
According to bf, the spiciness of the Chicken Tom Yum is just right. The serving is quite generous, it may be good for two, with lots of chicken, tomatoes, and noodles.
The Wildberry Sorbie is okay but the Strawberry Milkshake is bleurgh. It is very watery and has a weird taste. There is something mixed in it, I'm not sure what, wheat germ I think. It was not indicated in the menu, so I was expecting an ordinary milkshake. Very disappointing. If you're a health buff or a fan of healthful stuff, maybe you'll enjoy it. After all, I saw a comment in another blog post about Saint's Alp, saying "I love their strawberry milkshake!" As for me, this milkshake is the worst I have ever had and I consider it a complete waste of money. I want my milkshake thick and creamy, like melted ice cream. Ugh! Next time, I'm going to stick to Saint's Alp's milk teas.

Affordability
Beverages are priced P85-P150, rice meals and noodle soups P185-P205. There are small menu leaflets available in Saint's Alp but the prices of some items are higher in their Web site. I have poor memory and I don't have the receipt so I'll just use the prices indicated in the Web site since the site is probably more updated.
Chicken Skin - P90
Chicken Tom Yum - P205
Chicken Chop - P195
Wildberry Sorbie - P145
Strawberry Milkshake - P135

Interiors
Saint's Alp Katipunan has a warm and relaxing ambiance. Near the front and on the left are couches and cushioned seats. Customers don't feel rushed. In my pictures, the lights look very bright and hot but that's just my camera. In reality, the lights are just fine and the temperature inside the teahouse is just okay.
Cleanliness
Things are clean and orderly.Service
To order, one must go to the counter and line up. The food is then delivered to your table. The personnel we encountered were nice and polite and the food was served shortly after we ordered.
